Adex Personnel is looking for a Director of Process Engineering to join one of our partners, a giant in aerospace and transportation engineering, for a career opportunity at the Laval headquarters.

Responsibilities:

  • The incumbent of this position is responsible for meeting the manufacturing needs of foundries by providing technical/metallurgical support to the business center.
  • Responsibilities include developing and implementing new molding programs, as well as supporting current manufacturing molding programs and associated processes.
  • Make modifications based on process/product priorities and objectives, ensure that process engineering resources and operational equipment are adequate, assign casting program work, and provide technical guidance to engineering and manufacturing departments.
  • Coordinate multiple experiments or investigations to improve process and product quality, optimize them, and reduce costs to provide superior quality castings that meet customer specifications within deadlines.

Key Results Area:

MANAGEMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF METALLURGICAL PROCESSES: To achieve continuous improvement, waste elimination, and operational cost reduction, it is necessary to review and properly manage metallurgical processes.

 

Typical Tasks:

- Organize projects, surveys, and analytical studies to develop and test new applications of technical knowledge.

- Act as an engineering authority on molding projects, determining manufacturing requirements, evaluating design changes, and solving problems.

- Develop, approve, and coordinate work schedules for the process engineering team.

- Make recommendations on equipment, configurations, and integration into molding programs.

- Recommend, plan, and implement research and development needs.

- Identify, analyze, and advise on technical issues, launching inquiries and proposing solutions.

- Control process variables to achieve specified characteristics.

- Review production orders or programs to determine process and product needs.

- Develop or revise standard operating and working practices.

- Compile, store, and retrieve process engineering data.

- Provide technical support and seek continuous process improvement.

- Solve processing problems and interface with production personnel.

- Develop and implement process improvements.

- Interact with customers on technical and quality issues.

- Perform metallurgical assessments and investigations.

- Conduct quality surveys, as required.

- Assess manufacturing feasibility to meet customer quotation demands.

- Design and organize training sessions.

- Execute assigned personal projects.

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT: Ensure effective supervision, direction, training, mentoring, and development of personnel to achieve desired results. Develop and maintain effective programs for employees, training, and advancement.

Requirements:

University degree in engineering, specializing in metallurgy or materials science, or equivalent professional experience, supplemented by ongoing technical training to gain a deep understanding of materials and high-temperature processing methods.

Experience in investment casting methods or other molding methods is an asset.

Skills/Abilities Required:

TECHNICAL

  • Basic computer operation,

  •  interpretation of various technical experiences in a manufacturing environment focused on material applications.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Must be fluently bilingual in French and English.
  • Demonstrates superior communication skills - written and oral
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Able to effectively present information and answer questions from groups of managers, clients, consumers, and the operational unit.
