Research and Development Technician

Adex Personnel is seeking a Research and Development Technician to join one of its partners, a leader in the manufacturing of food and beverage products, and a pioneer in meat processing based in Laval.

 

Under the supervision of the Research and Development Manager, the Research and Development Technician is involved in all phases of designing and refining new products, as well as conducting rigorous tests to enhance the quality and efficiency of existing products. Responsibilities include feasibility analysis, evaluating the performance of new solutions, and preparing detailed synthesis reports.

Responsibilities:

- Plan and oversee tests in the factory.

- Follow the schedule established by the hierarchical superior.

- Participate in result analysis, including yield, efficiency, chemical, microbiological, and organoleptic characteristics, and prepare appropriate reports.

- Contribute to the development of new products and the modification of existing formulations.

- Conduct tests and follow-ups on existing products to improve quality, experiment with new ingredients, and confirm performance.

- Maintain inventory of samples and keep storage areas clean and organized.

- Develop manufacturing procedures and participate in the industrial transfer of recipes.

- Inform relevant parties of test progress for new recipes or any changes affecting other departments.

- Ensure that actions in the role support the design, manufacturing, and delivery of products in line with quality and food safety standards set by the company.

- Perform any other related tasks, such as investigations or problem-solving in production, as needed.

 

SQF/HACCP Requirements:

 

- Ensure that activities in the role support product manufacturing in accordance with quality and food safety standards established by the company.

- Ensure compliance with SQF food safety code requirements and report any food safety issues to authorized personnel. 

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology, a DEC in Food Technology, or equivalent education or experience.

- Experience working in a food processing plant would be an asset.

- Familiarity with SQF and HACCP standards, with previous experience in these environments being an additional advantage.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and MSProject.

- Perfect command of French, with knowledge of English being an asset.

- Ability to work effectively, even under pressure.

- Organizational skills, resourcefulness, initiative, autonomy, and efficiency.
